Domestic Violence Awareness

Nationally, Alpha Chi Omega is a supporter of bringing awareness to Domestic Violence. As sisters of Alpha Chi Omega, we host numerous philanthropy events throughout the year in support of our national philanthropy, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, as well as Safe Passage, our local domestic violence shelter located in Northampton, Massachusetts. Our sisters take immense pride in educating people on the prevalence and signs of unhealthy relationships and ultimately, ending domestic violence. Along with our commitment to supporting and encouraging healthy relationships, Delta Mu stands against hazing. Alpha Chi Omega, nationally, has a strict anti-hazing policy. In the eyes of our organization, hazing is a form of domestic violence and therefore we have zero tolerance for it. We firmly believe that love should not hurt.

The Alpha Chi Omega foundation strives to support Alpha Chis across the country. Through support from generous donors, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation is able to give young women the Real. Strong. Women. experience that only Alpha Chi Omega can provide. The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation improves the experiences of collegiate women by sustaining chapter success, supporting individual sisters' educations through scholarships, and advocating for victims of domestic violence.

Safe Passage is resource center located in Northampton, Massachusetts that serves to help survivors of domestic violence and their families rebuild their lives in the wake of domestic violence. Safe Passage, its staff and volunteers help connect survivors of all genders and identities with resources such as psychological counseling and legal and financial aid using a trauma-informed practice.

Delta Mu prides itself on a strong relationship with Safe Passage and we work with them throughout the year, donating our time, money, and inviting them to attend various philanthropy events. Delta Mu is so lucky to have such an amazing local organization to partner with.

In following years, Delta Mu added an $1 for the chance to pie a sister in the face. All proceeds from this event go to our local philanthropy, Safe Passage, in Northampton, Massachusetts.
